In a heavenly natural environment, at an altitude of 800 meters, surrounded by pine trees, cedar trees, oak trees, hornbeams and just minutes away from the city of Amfiklia, stands the Dadiou Holy Monastery or the Monastery of Panagia Gavriotissa as it is otherwise called.
The church of the monastery is post-Byzantine Greek type and according to tradition it was built in 1755. Around the church there are in two levels the common areas, the dining hall for the Monks and the guests, chapel of the Metamorphoseos tou Sotiros that was burned in 1956 and it was refaced a year later.
The Holy Monastery during the Greek War of Independence in 1821 met a lot of destructions yet it played an important part to the war as it was the place where Athanasios Diakos and Odysseas Androutsos operated.
The monastery is dedicated to Panagia Gavriotissa which is celebrated on the 8th of September. Yet with the new calendar the great festival is carried out on the 6th of August, the day that its chapel is commemorated.
